FUTURESCAN
PROJECT
The GLF serves as the primary sponsor for FutureScan - an effort to
identify both the greatest risks facing greater Lewes over the next
decade, and the top priorities for Lewes residents and elected
officials to address.
Our partners in this exercise are the
Sea Grant Program of the University of Delaware's College of Marine
& Earth Studies and the Delaware River & Bay Authority.
During 2007, the GLF staff conducted
interviews with more than 50 organizational, institutional, and
community leaders to compile an inventory of the issues they see
facing Lewes by the year 2017.
This group was convened for a day-long
charette at the Virden Center in Lewes in February, 2008 to further
explore such key issues as transportation, access to critical
services, demand on natural resources and, of course, population
growth and the increasing median age of Lewes residents.
Conclusions
from the charette will be taken to the general public for their
response and additional recommendations. Through FutureScan, we hope to
identify the most important issues that need to be tackled in order to
maintain and improve the quality of life in the greater Lewes region.
