Our recent Greater Lewes Foundation Annual Meeting was a great success. We appreciate all who came out to join us as we shared the St. George AME Cemetary Report, listened to a panel discussion regarding Lewes’ African American History, and paid tribute to a Greater Lewes Foundation founder, George H. Smith.
Please enjoy these videos highlighting the key moments from our event:
St. George AME Cemetery Report – Mark Chura of GLF who oversaw the ground-penetrating radar effort shares results funded by two GLF advisors, Pam Brown, and Dawnel White. Introduced by Trina Brown-Hicks.
Opening remarks and introduction of a panel on Lewes’ African American History by Trina Brown-Hicks of two retired, highly respected educators. Dr. Stell Parker-Selby and Reverend Janet Maull-Martin of Prospect AME Church, as well as Ms. Kitty Perry, a life-long resident born and raised in Lewes, DE., share their personal recollections of Lewes’ African American History.
George H. Smith was a Lewes native and an extraordinary public servant. It is thanks to his participation in founding and helping to build the Greater Lewes Foundation that the organization is the success it is today.
