The Lewes Doo-Dah Parade got its start more than 50 years ago when Phyllis Hoenen and Carolyn Shockley grabbed a battery-powered record player, a wagon and some trash can lids and asked people join in.

The parade has now grown into a must-see Independence Day event, with hundreds of people marching down Kings Highway from McFee Street, its traditional starting place. The parade loops around downtown and finishes on Savannah Road.

The Greater Lewes Foundation helps generous people achieve their philanthropic objectives by creating charitable funds to support important community causes.

This can be done quickly, with no set-up cost, under the GLF’s non-profit status.

Besides managing charitable funds, GLF board members are actively involved in our community, exploring ways for the Foundation to support significant major community projects, such as the Lewes Canalfront Park, Public Library and the Open Space Alliance Campaign.

Please join us in support of the greater Lewes region. Support or create a fund of your own, take part in important GLF initiatives and never stop believing in the power of community.
